Stop me if you think this one before
Dark skies are gathering over the good ship Manchester United. And not just because winter is on its way. Brian, Dale and John gathered together to go over the latest developments affecting the club.
The reds were on the road with a hard trip to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. We had beaten them in pre-season but circumstances were very different now. All hope of silencing the crowd and keeping it tight early on went out the window after a minute. The home side went ahead straight away and left us chasing shadows immediately.
The frustrating part was that we actually had a grip on the match afterwards. Utd carved out decent opportunities against Diego Simeone’s men and could have been ahead by half time. Bryan Mbeumo and others did not have their scoring boots on. An extremely soft red card for Leny Yoro, combined with a second goal put the game beyond us unfortunately.
As if that was the only talking matter. Lisandro Martinez was interviewed post game and he did not hold back. He let rip at those running the club at their lack of support to Carrick. The little Argentine has never been less than passionate and he said what many of us feel. He might have issued an apology for the timing of the statement afterwards. But importantly, not the reason he did it.
Unfortunately it appears as if the signs are not good for Michael Carrick. The lads debate as to whether we are at point zero with the manager. None of them want to see him lose his job but results are damning. It makes it no easier with matches at Leeds and Como ahead.
Things can only get better…..can’t it?
