Defender poised to go back on loan

Harry Amass has returned to Old Trafford after his loan period ended at Sheffield Wednesday. He is expected to go back out on loan for the remainder of the season with a host of clubs interested.

The left-back arrived at Old Trafford in August of 2023 after signing from Watford where he had been since the age of nine. Having impressed early on in the under-18’s, he graduated to make the matchday squad for the first time within a couple of months. He continued to make an important impact with the the underage teams until he made his senior debut on his 18th birthday against Leicester City. He went on to make seven appearances overall and was on the bench for the Europa League loss against Spurs.

He joined The Owls in the summer in order to gain experience and toughen himself up physically. It was a loan that was completed only after United agreed to cover his wages due to their financial issues and a block on transfers. He has gone on to make 21 appearances in the Championship in his spell at Wednesday scoring once. Despite their off-field problems, and lying at the bottom of the table, he has made an impact. This was despite comments that Amorim made about him. He won the club player of the month for both November and December.

What the next step is for him, will be decided in the next few days. This could be remaining at Old Trafford, going back to Sheffield Wednesday, or joining another club until the end of the season.
