Josh shows his relief after scoring

Crystal Palace 1-2 Manchester United: 30/11/25

Magical Mount strikes to seal comeback win

Celebration at the final whistle

A clever routine freekick by Mason Mount put the seal on an important win at Selhurst Park. They were trailing to a first half penalty until Joshua Zirkzee netted his first of the season. The England midfielder then helped secure our first win at this stadium since 2020.

It was a disappointment for the home side though. They had been on top for the opening 45 and led through Jean-Phillipe Mateta’s penalty. They ran out of steam after the break and were left chasing shadows.

Ruben Amorim elected to make two changes from the disppointing loss to Everton on Monday. Both Patrick Dorgu and Noussair Mazraoui dropped to the bench with Mason Mount coming in to play at 10 to allow Amad Diallo move to full back. Diogo Dalot also returned. Joshua Zirkzee kept his place up top. Oliver Glasner made three changes from the side beaten by Strasbourg during the week. Daichi Kamada, Adam Wharton, and Chris Richards all returned to the side. Jaydee Canvot, Will Hughes, and Jefferson Lerma were the players replaced.

Dean Henderson was coming up against his former side and was celebrating a big save after just a minute. Diogo Dalot launched a throw into the box which was flicked on by Matthijs de Ligt. In the scramble, Casemiro stole ahead of his marker at the back post.

The Palace keeper made a point-blank save to deny him. The Brazilian then headed wide from a Bruno Fernandes free kick. In between that, Jean-Phillipe Mateta hit the side netting after bursting past De Ligt. The Frenchman should have done better after 15 minutes when the ball rebounded to him. Leny Yoro got out to make him hurry his shot. The Utd defender then blocked an effort from Jeremy Pina after 25.

He was guilty of conceding the penalty that gave the home side the lead after 35 minutes. He stumbled into Mateta after a peach of a ball from Adam Wharton. He slotted past Senne Lammens but was called back after a VAR check. It showed he kicked the ball against his standing foot and was told to take it again. They were able to take it again due to a new change that was introduced before the season. The result was the same however.

Eddie Nketiah came on for the home side after an injury for Ismailia Sarr. He almost doubled the lead on the brink of half-time. De Ligt slipped to allow the striker a run on goal. Luke Shaw recovered to make a last ditch tackle on him.

It was important that the away side showed more in the second-half. This moment came ten minutes in the half. Diogo Dalot won a free kick after a foul by Nketiah. Fernandes swung it in towards Joshua Zirkzee. The Dutch forward beat the offside trap before chesting it down and lashing it past Henderson from a tight angle. It was his first league goal in almost a year.

He was also involved in the goal that gave United the lead after 63 minutes. His neat flick to Dalot drew another free after a foul by Marc Guehi. Fernandes elected to tap the ball to Mason Mount who blasted through the wall and into the bottom corner.

Fernandes then set up a chance for Dalot who got the ball past the home backline. He went to ground in the box with the referee adjudging he had gone down too easily.

Despite pressure from the home side, Utd were able to see out the game for the win. It puts them 7th and ahead of them hosts. They have the opportunity to build upon this when they take on West Ham at home on Thursday at 20:00. Palace travel to Burnley the night before.
