New Manager, new week, same problems
Dale O’ Donnell and John Fitzgibbon delve over what has been another grim week for the Old Trafford faithful. Darren Fletcher took the reigns for a week whilst the high brass were looking for an interim manager for the rest of the season. It came in the wake of the dismissal of Ruben Amorim.
He took charge for the away game at struggling Burnley. Yet again, the reds were let down by a lack of clinical finishing and poor mistakes at the back. It now means that Utd have dropped points to all three of the bottom three at this stage. At least it was marked by a smart double from Benjamin Sesko. It was one of those games where the fans knew that we should have won which is perhaps a change from other games. It also gave us a glimpse at the bright light that is Shea Lacey who could have won us the game.

The second game was a shuddering drop back down to earth again though. Brighton came to Old Trafford and came away with a straight forward win. Old boy Danny Welbeck came back to haunt us once more. A good start was followed by a soft goal and we never looked likely to score again. Diogo Dalot was guilty of terrible miss in particular. It was made it worse by a red card for Lacey near the end.

Michael Carrick’s appointment is obviously the big news as he is in charge until the end of the season. The critique on the decision has been that of Utd looking to the old boys network yet again. The two lads argue the fact that delving into Utd’s past is not a bad thing given the lack of identity we have had recently. It is a tough job given the matches ahead and the chaos surrounding the team at the moment.
The lads then finish off with a nervous look towards the Manchester Derby. UTFR!
