Episode 261: Protests, 3 Points and Transfers

Another quiet afternoon around the club….

The three happy lads Brian, Dale, and John came together to go over the last few days at the club. A major contrast to some of the doom and gloom we have had to deal with for a lot of the last decade.

The (lack of) wheeling and dealings on transfer deadline day was one they went over first. It had been a quiet day on the market with just a few academy lads (Harry Amass, Toby Collyer, Ethan Wheatley, James Scanlon, Justin Devaney and Gabriele Biancheri in case you hadn’t heard) departing on loan deals. Proposed deals for Joshua Zirkzee and Manuel Ugarte came to nothing.

The most surprising was that of Tyrell Malacia. It seems that he was told to report back to the club due to recent injuries despite him being on a plane set to depart to Turkey at the time. Something definitely sounded dodgy about it.

Prior to the game, a protest was being held outside the ground by the 1958 group. A few thousand showed up before the game on Sunday to make themselves heard. Topics such as ticket pricing, season ticket issues and grievances over the ownership were on the ticket. The lads debated whether it was better to have one issue or whether it shows the amount of problems facing the fanbase.

Fulham were the team who came visiting to Old Trafford last Sunday. It would have been one of those games which had tripped us up in the past. Play well in a big game and then mess up at home to a smaller team. It was a side only missing the injured Patrick Dorgu from recent games demonstrating the consistency.

Casemiro had been the shining star with a goal and a superb assist for Matheus Cunha to give us a two goal lead. It demonstrated how much we will miss ‘Unc’ once he leaves at the end of the season. Fulham clawed their way back into the game and looked to have snatched a point with an excellent goal in injury time. It was up to our big Slovenian to come on and bend one into the top corner and give us three in a row.

Finally the lads look towards the home game with Spurs. A team we owe a beating to after the desperate Europa League Final loss.
