Episode 267: Statement Win as United put Villa to bed

The Villains are thwarted as the reds roll on

Dale and John get together on the mic to discuss the latest happenings on all aspects Manchester United. Sunday was a massive game following the disappointing loss to Newcastle. Victory over Aston Villa was crucial if they were to have any ambition of Champions League qualification.

A dismal first-half did little to ease the tension around the ground. The home side grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck in the second period though. Bruno Fernandes broke the assist record held by David Beckham, Big Unc already landed his highest scoring record for a season and Big Ben scored again off the bench. It now sees us extend our advantage in third.

It reminds us that we are counting down the number of games left of Casemiro in a red shirt. Fans were again chanting his name and calling for one more year. The lads go over how much we are going to miss his presence on the field and his threat on set-pieces. Something we will have to factor in for the summer signings.

Fernandes obviously got his plaudits for his display and they both wax lyrical over his time at the club. The question of how he would get on in one of Sir Alex Ferguson’s classic sides. And how long can we expect him to remain at the club. The lads are positive on both fronts.

Finally, it is not just a big game on Friday night as the reds travel to Bournemouth. It is the day that John Fitzgibbon has selected to tie the knot. Typically a fixture change has scuppered his opportunity to see it. We all, of course, wish him all the very best on the occasion. Hopefully it all goes well all round.
