The highs and lows of season 2025-26
John Fitz was the host for his first time to be joined by the deadly duo of Brian and Dale. Life is always better when a Corkman is on top.
The three lads reflected on a season with some major highs and terrible lows. Having finished 15th the season before, it was critical we started this one better. It was not to be the case though. Just two wins from the opening six games and a terrible exit in the League Cup to Grimsby did not fill the fans with much confidence. The arrival of Senne Lammens, a five game unbeaten streak and a win at Anfield did give some cause for optimism.
That came to a halt though. Some truly heinous performances at home to Everton, West Ham, Wolves and Bournemouth showed the limitations in the side. Ruben Amorim’s system was not getting the best out of the side and fans were finding it harder to get excited for games. The manager was making himself increasingly unpopular with the higher ups and his time was nigh. An outburst after the Leeds game proved to be the final straw and he was dismissed.
It was up to Michael Carrick to rescue our season and he started in style. A win in the Manchester Derby and away to Arsenal set him on his way. Bringing Kobbie Mainoo back into the side and using Bruno Fernandes higher up was simple but effective. Just two losses in his 18 games helped us comfortably finish in the Champions League spots. It was no surprise when he was appointed as permanent manager.
Looking ahead, the guys dissected the names on the club’s release sheet for players. Jadon Sancho, in particular, will be one that many fans will be glad to see the back of. His fee and wages paled in comparison to what he produced on the pitch. One player not on that list is Marcus Rashford. Barcelona appear to have turned down the option to sign him on the fee agreed. His future is in doubt and a return highly unlikely.

They wrap it all up with a look at the upcoming World Cup. Dale is more enthusiastic about it than the others. They do predict that Bruno and Dalot could be returning with a smile on their face and a medal in their pockets.
Listen in for more episodes during the summer. And throw your support behind Cork this summer. Brian would appreciate it.
