A look at how the on-loan reds have been getting on

With the new season kicking off in the lower leagues, and across Europe, it is a good time to start looking at how our loan players have been getting on.

Europe

Celta Vigo are due to start their La Liga campaign on 22nd. Altay Bayinder will be hoping to stake his claim for first choice after his season long loan.

Andre Onana started yesterday as Trabzonspor claimed an opening day draw in Super Lig. The visitors had the majority of possession and chances in the game, but conceded a second-half penalty. Much of the discussion surrounded the start of Mohammed Salah. He came off the bench but was unable to give them the win.

Lausanne kicked off their Swiss Cup campaign with a resounding win over FC Kosova Neuchâtel. The opponents from the 5th division had been drawn to host them. The game was moved due to the ground not being up to necessary standards. Any chance of an upset was put to bed within four minutes as Sekou Kone set up the opening goal. He then hammered in a long range effort to make it five. He will be hoping to impress after two seasons wrecked by injury.

Scottish League

It has been a challenging start to the season for Greenock Morton. The Championship club narrowly avoided relegation last season. They have begun the league campaign with two narrow defeats from their two games. It has not been by large margins, but they need to get points on the board. Saturday saw them defeated 2-0 by Stenhousemuir. Elyh Harrison has played both times.

There has been fears that the club may have to forfeit upcoming games due to a lack of fit players.

Non League

Southport were denied all three points as they conceded a last minute equaliser at home to Buxton United. They had gone ahead in the first half and appeared to be on target for the win. A sending off changed the dynamics of the game and it was backs to the walls. Honor Soloman had pulled off a number of strong saves to preserve the lead. He was powerless to help the leveller though. It keeps them in the lower half of the table.
