Utd kick off cup campaign at home
Manchester United have found out their third round opponents in this season’s Carabao Cup.
It had already been decided prior to the draw that we would be playing at home. The side that was drawn against us is Brighton and Hove Albion. Both clubs were entering the competition at this stage due to European involvement.
It will be the fourth time we faced the South Coast side in cup competitions in six years. Man Utd are hold the advantage so far.
They played behind closed doors in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup in 2020/21. The reds came away with a 3-0 win on that occasion.
The next game was a much closer encounter. The Semi-Finals of the 2022/23 FA Cup finished scoreless in a tense game at Wembley. It took penalties to separate the sides with us prevailing 7-6. Solly March saw his saved to allow Victor Lindelof score the winner.
The seagulls got a measure of revenge last season though. A 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford ended our silverware hopes. It also meant that we were knocked out of both domestic competitions at the first stage. We did manage to win both home and away against them in the league though.
The tie is set for Wednesday 16th of September.
