Goalkeeper joins Vigo on loan
Manchester United have confirmed that Altay Bayinder has left the club to join Spanish club Celta Vigo.
The goalkeeper has joined the La Liga outfit on a season long loan. His wages are being covered for the duration of the loan. It is believed the option of a permanent move is also included.
The Spanish club finished sixth in La Liga in the season just gone. They are set to take part in this season’s Europa League.
The Turkish international started his career with Ankaragucu before joining Fenerbahce in 2019. He won the Turkish Cup in 2023 and was also voted as Super Lig Best Goalkeeper in 2020/21. He joined us in 2023 to become the first player from Turkey to represent the club.
He was generally used as a back-up or cup goalkeeper. He made his debut in the FA Cup winning campaign of 2023/24 and was on the bench for the final. He had probably his best moment the following season as ten men Utd prevailed in a shoot-out at The Emirates. Having started last season as first choice, he saw his opportunity diminish with the form of Senne Lammens.
He spoke on social media on the news: “Thank you for every chant, every message and every moment we have shared. Your support means a lot to me and I’ll carry it with me throughout this next chapter of my life.”
“I’ll miss Old Trafford but this is not goodbye. Wishing a successful season to everyone at the club, my heart and support will always be with you. See you soon Reds.”
All the very best
