Young players sign contracts

Academy talent sign first professional deal

Manchester United have confirmed that nine of their underage squad have signed their first professional contract.

The players include Jacob Watson, Neithan Barbosa, Albert Mills, Louie Bradbury, Charlie Hardy, Cameron Byrne-Hughes, Jayden Ngwashi, Nathaniel-Junior Brown, and Rafe McCormack.

All have featured in the under-18 squad last season with some having appearances in the under-21’s also. Byrne-Hughes, McCormack, and Mills all started in the FA Youth Cup Final loss to Manchester City in May. Junior Brown came on as a sub also.

It is a major step in the emerging career of these players who can continue their development at Carrington.

The club had already revealed their intention to concentrate on a smaller base of academy players this season. They have pulled out of the EFL Trophy and National League Cup. The aim is to prioritise age group football such as UEFA Youth League and Premier League International Cup.

It is expected that these will be the core of the squad competing in The Otten Cup in Netherlands. The likes of Benfica, Chelsea, Palmeiras along with hosts PSV Eindhoven will be taking part in it.

All the best for the season ahead!
