Episode 262: Michael Carrick’s Unbeaten Start Continues

Going forward on the pitch and backwards off it

Both Brian and John were on the mic to go over the recent developments in the world of Manchester United.

The first of two matches in a couple of days saw us take on Spurs at Old Trafford. We have been known to slip up when facing relegation candidates (he he he) on an early kick-off previously. The away side were hampered by a stupid red card and we lead via Bryan Mbeumo at the break. The nerves were settled by a smart goal from Bruno Fernandes with ten minutes left. Just reward for them beating us in the Europa League final.

The second of the matches was one of those horrible games at The London Stadium. And facing a side that usually raise their games against us. Luke Shaw was the man guilty of a defensive lapse to allow them gain a lead in the second half. Casemiro had a goal disallowed for a tight offside and it looked to be another miserable night. Carrick was brave with his subs to bring on Leny Yoro who produced two excellent blocks and Benjamin Sesko who flicked home a last minute equaliser.

This run of results helped Carrick to the manager of the month. Just reward for a fantastic start and caused many to meltdown online.

The involvement of people making comments in the aftermath again made headlines. Roy Keane made snide comments about our Slovenian striker and that afro haired clown made the end of the winning run all about him. But the worse came from our owner who made a hugely misguided statement regarding immigration in the UK. Ironic given he lives in a foreign country for tax reasons. Just another reason to question his tenure so far.
