Back to earth with a bump
Dale and John are joined on the mic by Brian again. The lads are talking all issues related to United in the past week.
It probably had to come at some point, but we didn’t want it to. A first defeat under Michael Carrick and it had to be away to those barcode bores. We have been grinding out results and finding ways to win in the previous games before that. It had put us into a position that many fans would not have expected to be prior to him coming back in.
It was a major frustrating to those in the away end and watching at home to see the first half though. The tempo was far too slow with very little of the progressive passing that is needed at this level. The home side were treating the game like a champions league final and full of energy. Even when they went down to ten men just before the break. They scored a penalty to put them ahead but Unc Case equalised just before the half-time whistle.

We all assumed that would be the launch-pad to another victory. But it did not happen that way. We still looked very sluggish despite Carrick urging them to get the ball forward quicker and push up. Chances did come as the game approached the end but it was Newcastle who came away with the win after a last-minute winner from William Osula.
The squad is still noticeably thin and the continued absences of the long term injuries is really hurting us. The lads debate the future of said players and who we need to bring in to strengthen us.
Finally, they look towards the weekend and the visit of Aston Villa. A key fixture if we are to even think of qualifying for Europe.
