United stand tall as the Chelsea get the blues
It has been a while since the last time the lads were on the mic. John got married on the same night that Utd had a frustrating draw with Bournemouth, there was a frustrating international break and then we returned to a disappointing loss against Leeds at home. It threatened to stall our bid for Champions League next season.
In between, the lads attended a MUST fundraiser in aid of the former players association. A great night by all accounts, money raised for a worthwhile cause and the introduction of new flags in the stadium.
Thankfully, we got back on track with a hard fought 1-0 win at Chelsea last Saturday night. A patched up defence missing several due to injury and suspensions managed to hold firm. It gave us a boost whilst setting Chelsea back themselves.
The side had really been missing Harry Maguire due to his red card against Bournemouth. It was therefore great news to hear about him signing an extension for his contract.
Another player to have good recent form is Diogo Dalot. Someone to often get stick for his decision making and defensive lapses, he has been producing solid form at his more preferred right-back spot. He certainly made Alejandro Garnacho look almost anonymous on the night. The former red looks like player who is lost ever since he moved to London.
It was yet another assist for our captain and he orchestrated yet another strong display. It brings up the question of whether he should be in contention for player of the year. Both Dale and John certainly believe he should be. It is a big turnaround from the point where the club were listening to offers for him. It is hard to imagine the team without him at the moment.

With us on the brink of reaching the Champions League again, the debate on the future of Michael Carrick raises itself again. He is ending the season on a positive note but a huge summer lies ahead. The lads have differing opinions on this matter.
Finally, they look ahead to the forthcoming encounter with Brentford on Monday. Three points and we are almost there. It would be a huge improvement on the side who lost dismally at their ground earlier in the season.
