A look across the leagues for performances of the on-loan reds

Action has been light on our side in the past few weeks, due to cup action. Our win over Everton was the first in almost two weeks. Other reds players have been busier though. Here is an update on how they got on.

Europe

Here is where some of the higher profile stars that are seeking paths elsewhere.

Marcus Rashford was still out injured as Barcelona surprisingly lost 2-1 to local rivals Girona. He was fit enough to make the bench last Sunday as the Catalan side comfortably overcame Levante 3-0. It put them back top of La Liga as Real Madrid lost the evening before.

Rasmus Hojlund played the full 90 minutes for Napoli on Sunday. They lost 2-1 to fellow European hopefuls Atalanta. He struggled to make a significant impact on the game having just one effort off target. They slipped further behind Inter Milan and in a real fight to make the Champions League next season.

Andre Onana’s Trapzonspor side got back on winning ways as they came from behind to beat midtable Gaziantep FK on Sunday. It was another game in which he failed to clean sheet. They still remain adrift of leaders Galatasary.

Both Enzo Kana-Biyik was on the bench as Lausanne drew away to Sigma Olomouc in the Europa Conference League playoff first leg. He also featured off the bench as they exited the competition, losing 2-1 at home. In between, both himself and Sekou Kone came off the bench against Lugano in the Swiss League. They were two nil down at the time and ended up losing. Biyik did manage to force a save from the home keeper in his time on the pitch.

Premier League

Jadon Sancho came off the bench yet again as Aston Villa struggled to a 1-1 home draw with Leeds United. It was his corner that led to the equaliser from Tammy Abraham though. They were shocked by Wolverhampton Wanderers tonight 2-0. He started the game and was subbed off after an hour. He had no shots or assists in that time.

SPL

Jacob Devaney had a tough afternoon for St. Mirren. His side were crushed 5-0 by Motherwell at home on Saturday. He was replaced at half-time with his side one nil down at the time. He did manage a shot in his time on the pitch and his passing was off key. It has been a tough last few games for him.

Ethan Williams came off the bench at Tynecastle as Falkirk lost narrowly to leaders Hearts. He did manage to have a shot on goal in his time on the pitch as the visitors chased the game. Hopefully he will start to feature more in the coming weeks.

EFL

Harry Amass remains out injured at Norwich City. He has returned to Old Trafford for checks on his hamstring damage.

Radek Vitek had a mixed bag of results over the last few games. It started off with a draw against fellow playoff chasers Wrexham at home last Tuesday. They lost 1-0 to Swansea away last Saturday before returning to beat relegation haunted Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday. He was responsible for a number of important saves in the latter game.

Toby Collyer was left out of the matchday squad for Hull City’s two games in the past week. His side lost at home to QPR before recovering to beat Derby County during the week.

Ethan Wheatley started up front for Bradford City last Tuesday. His side got an important win against playoff rivals Stockport County. He did have an early chance to open the scoring but put it over the bar. He was booked in the game and replaced at the break. They were shocked last Saturday when going down 3-1 to AFC Wimbledon in a game that saw them arrive late due to traffic. He came off the bench but was unable to make a mark. He came on during the week against Rotherham as they made it four home game wins in a row. He helped set up an opportunity that was put over the bar.

Gabriele Biancheri was on the bench as Rotherham Utd lost 1-0 to fellow relegation rivals Burton Albion. He came on for the last 15 minutes against Doncaster Rovers. He was unable to help them save the game as they lost 2-1. He only had four minutes against Bradford. Dan Gore did not feature in any of these games.

James Scanlon did not come off the bench for Swindon at Barnet last Tuesday. He started last Saturday as they went down 2-1 to Crewe. He was subbed off in the second half.

Ethan Ennis played the full 90 as Fleetwood came away from Crewe with a 1-0 win. He had three shots on goal and forced a save from the home keeper. He was also booked in the game. He also played the full game last Saturday as they came from two nil down to win 3-2 against Barrow. He had two efforts saved in the game.

It is clear to see that some are performing better than others at the moment.
