What a difference a result and a performance can make, a superb Derby Day win over Manchester City has given every Manchester United fan a big spring in their step.
Now there is optimism when there was dread, now on to another big game in old foes Arsenal away in the Premier League.
So, this got me to thinking about my favourite memory from our games against the Gunners, also i asked my colleagues at Simply Red for their favourite memories as well.
These are Premier League memories only so sadly no Giggs goal in extra time in 1999 or Cristiano Ronaldo counter goal in 2008.
My favourite memory in the Premier League is from the 1999/00 season at Highbury when United won 2-1 with two Roy Keane goals, the match will also be remembered for Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira squaring up to each other and this would become a clash synonymous with this rivalry.
The two best teams in the country going back and forth with each other, each game was box office and with every game they played the intensity grew as did the appetite for the next game.
Now for the memories of the other contributors at Simply Red
Fortunately, I have many positive memories of watching Manchester United vs Arsenal going to battle growing up.
My favourite Premier League memory is the Keane/Vieira tunnel confrontation in 2005, with Keane telling Vieira, “I’ll see you out there”.
Perfectly capturing the ferocity/tone of the brutal rivalry and the brutally intense match that followed, crackling tension from the start with United winning 4-2.
In that moment, the United-Arsenal rivalry was everything and for me the Premier League at its best.
Dave Saves! In the 2017/18 season United witnessed one of the greatest goalkeeping performances of the Premier League era; David De Gea made 14 saves in a 3-1 win over the Gunners. A goalkeeper who keeps the ball out of the net just doing his job.

Manchester United 8-2 Arsenal: 2 Hat Tricks (Rooney and Young) Wenger humiliated, Rafael pulling faces before free kicks. It was a day that lives long in the memory, even if the season didn’t go how we wanted it to.

It was early in the 1993/94 season; the reigning champions were taking on Arsenal at Old Trafford. They had lost their first game of the season the weekend before with a surprise loss at then struggling Chelsea. This was shaping up to be a tight encounter where whomever scored first was likely to come out on top. The Gunners were inconsistent but always enjoyed putting one over us.
Just before half-time, the moment of magic occurred. Arsenal gave away a free kick just outside their area after we broke at speed. For many, it would have been too far out to even contemplate a shot. Not so, Eric Cantona. Dennis Irwin tapped the ball into his path. He surged forward and blasted it through the wall and past the helpless David Seaman.
It was another match winning moment from the mercurial Frenchman in his fantastic career with us. The sight of him wheeling away with his fist raised in celebration got all in the ground off its feet. Few, if any, free kicks were hit with such accuracy and venom as this one.
But who will add their names to this list this weekend? Also tell us your favourite Premier League memories from this fixture.
