From Hull to back again
Brian, Dale and John were all on the mic to discuss a busy week in the world of Manchester United.
It was perhaps a good thing a pod didn’t happen last week given the performance in the opening game against Hull City. A wretched first half saw us two down at the break. We seemed unable to find the response needed despite seeing plenty of the ball. It left us with the image of grown adults doing pawing motions at full time.

It was a huge dampener after all the optimism going into the new season. There was a lot of anger and questioning in the aftermath.
The players needed to respond, and they did so in style against Ipswich Town in our first home game. They recovered from the blow of going behind in the first half to sweep aside the visitors in the second period. Bruno Fernandes being the star player yet again with a hat-trick and an assist to give us our first three points.
It left supporters more spirited on the final whistle. It arose two different talking points. The first was showing of Fernandes to dispel his critics who questioned the plaudits he has received in recent times. His calling out of team-mates in the wake of the Hull showing drew backlash from the usual sources. As a captain, reminding others of standards should be part of the title.
The second would be the jittery showing from the defence that gave many of us cardiac incidents in the first half. It appears that the back-line will not be strengthened up despite those concerns. Hopefully they will manage to get the balance right with tough challenges ahead.
And one of these is a journey to face Everton away. Hopefully the reds will come away from Hill Dickinson Stadium without a rogering.
UTFR!
